TEMBHURNI JALNA
TYPE : CITY FORT
DISTRICT : JALANA
Since sometimes information is circulated on social media without any kind of verification, often wrong information is also spread. I realized this while exploring Jalna district. After reading the news on social media that Tembhurni village is Nagarkot, I went to this village while exploring Jalna district. Tembhurni village located in Jafarabad taluka of Jalna district is 38 km from Jalna city and 11 km from Jafarabad taluka. The village does not have Nagarkot but has two gates built in Kartik Vdya 8th century 1856 i.e. 1934 AD during the British period. There are two inscriptions in Marathi and Urdu on the arch of the main door on the east side of it, which mentions the year in which this door was built. Because of these two doors, someone wrote on social media that this village has a fort, which is completely wrong.
...
I am mentioning this village on our website so that the real information should be available to the people as I came across wrong information while visiting the village. There are numerous villages named Tembhurni in Maharashtra and one or two villages named Tembhurni can be found in every district. Tembhurni village in Sholapur district has a Nagarkot and its ramparts, two main gates and two small gates are still there. Complete information about this fort in Sholapur is available on our website www.durgbharari.in. This confusion may have arisen due to the same names of the villages.
