SAVTE KOT
TYPE : COASTAL FORT
DISTRICT : PALGHAR
HEIGHT : 0
GRADE : EASY
For a long time, the northern Konkan coast remained under Portuguese rule, and in the stretch between Vasai and Daman, they built several small and large fort-like structures along the shoreline. Most of these forts are now in ruins, with only a few remnants surviving. One such small fortification is the Savate Fort near Dahanu, built by the Portuguese.
The nearest railway station to reach Savate Fort is Dahanu, located about 7 kilometres away. From Dahanu railway station, private rickshaws are available to reach the fort. However, since most locals in Savate village are unaware of the fort’s location, it is advisable to carry detailed information about the site before setting out.
Traveling from Dahanu toward Charoti, you enter Savate village along a road that runs beside the creek.
