NANE
TYPE : NAGARKOT
DISTRICT : DHULE
HEIGHT : 0
What it means for the fort the fort to barely exist is known while wandering around forts and fortresses in Jalgaon-Dhule district. One such fortress, which remains only for names sake, can be seen at Nane village in Parola taluka of Dhule district. Nane village is 43 km from Parola taluka and 28 km from Dhule city. This fortress, once inside the Nagarkot (city fort), has been completely destroyed in the course of time and new houses have been built in its place. The place with these houses is now known as the fortress, but there is no trace of the fortress at that place. The fort surrounding the village has also been eroded and only a small part of it is left now. On entering the village, one can see the ruins of two bastions standing next to the original gate next to the newly constructed one.
...
Only the lower part of these bastions remains today. As there are no other remains of the fortress or Nagarkot, our tour is completed in 10 minutes. The history of the fortress has completely perished as the locals have no other information except the place of the fortress.
