Kunkeshwar is located on the coast of Devgad taluka in Sindhudurg district of Konkan, 20 km south of Devgad. Kunkeshwar is an ancient pilgrimage site. Sri Kshetra Kunkeshwar is a Shiva temple here and this temple may have been built in the 12th century during the Yadav period. The temple has a Shivlinga in “Jambha” stone. As it has been built on the sea shore, the sea side has been built with a stone embankment approximately 10 meters high to withstand the waves of the sea. The 20 meter high grand temple is surrounded by a rampart and the inner courtyard is paved with stone. The temple is about 50 feet high on a 30 feet high stone base. The construction of the temple is regarded as a masterpiece of sculpture. A huge festival is held here on Mahashivratri. The beach of Kunkeshwar is very clean and safe.

Various fishing activities are carried out here. The see the sunset from this beach must be visited in the evening. Kunkeshwar has developed well as both a religious and a tourist destination. Accommodation and food are good here. Kunkeshwar to Mithbav is approximately 12 kms. Mithbav has a white sand beach. A 6 km walk along the beach shore will lead you from Kunkeshwar to Mithbav. The fishing of Koli people gathered on the shore should be seen, you should also enjoy fresh fish bought from these people. In the evening, watch the beautiful sunset and make your whole vacation worthwhile.
