KUMBHRKHEDA

TYPE : CITY FORT/ FORTRESS

DISTRICT : JALGAON

HEIGHT : 0

While wandering around the forts of Raver taluka, we get to see the ruins of the Raver fort along with some unknown and decaying forts. In Kumbharkheda village of Raver taluka we can see one such unknown fort. Whether this structure should be called fort or fortress is also a question. Kumbharkheda village is at a distance of 12 km from Raver. The village gate is now changed and has a different form. This brick-built door and its arch are still in good condition and the village panchayat office is situated nearby. A path is made through the rampart outside the door to reach this office. It is because of this office that this door may have survived. After entering through the door, one can see a bastion made of cement at some distance in front. This bastion is the back side of Kumbharkheda Fort. The entire construction of this bastion is made of flat bricks. ... We can go to the main part of the fortress from the space next to this bastion. Due to the new construction, very little part of the fortress remains. The main gate of the fortress is small in size and the construction on it shows that the fort is two-storied. Previously there were two bastions, although, the right bastion of this door, has been completely destroyed and a new building has been erected there. The bastion on the left side of the door is still there and a saint's mausoleum is built on it. After entering the door, if you look at the door from the inside, you can see the remains of a two-storied Wada (big mansion) adjacent to the door. Apart from this, there is no other remains of the fortress. Although the descendants of the Patils of Kumbharkheda village live in this fortress, they cannot tell much about this fort or their ancestors. 15 minutes is enough to see this part of village door and fortress. Since the administration system of this area was maintained by the local residents, the central government did not interfere much because the local residents would adapt to whoever was in power. As people currently reside in this fortress, everything there is almost in perfect condition even today.
