TYPE : TOMB

DISTRICT : AURANGABAD

12 km from Daulatabad and 4 km from Verul in Aurangabad district, Khultabad is a village with a religious and historical tradition in Maharashtra. Along with the religious site Bhadra Maruti, the village has the tombs of Sufi saints and some other historic royal and chieftains. This village is the headquarters of Khultabad Taluka of Aurangabad District. This village, which was called Bhadravati in ancient times, is also known as Ratnapur. Khultabad is also famous for the Hindu deity Bhadra Maruti Sansthan. Bhadra Maruti has a magnificent idol of Hanuman in a sleeping position. There are only three such idols of sleeping Maruti in India. One of them is in Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, another is in Khultabad and the third is in Jamsawali in Madhya Pradesh. ... A grand pilgrimage is held in Khultabad every year on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. On that day, thousands of people from Aurangabad and nearby villages come to Khultabad by walking. A long time ago, this village was also called Rouza, which means paradise in heaven. This village was also called the land of saints or the eternal abode. This is because many Sufi saints lived in this place in the 14th century and after their death, they were buried in Khultabad. Chief among the Sufi saints buried in Khultabad is the tomb of Khawaja Jain Uddin Siraji Rahbawis Khwaja, Guru of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb died at Bhingar in Ahmednagar in AD 1707. According to his wishes, his tomb was built in the dargah of his guru Khwaja Jain Uddin Siraji Rahbawis Khwaja. As per his wishes, the grave is built very simply and a vegetable plant is planted on it. During the British period, a marble lattice was installed around the tomb by the Nizam of Hyderabad on the instructions of Viceroy Curzon. Apart from this, there are also tombs of Nizam-ul-Mulk Asaf Jah and Malik Ambar.
