KHEDLE PARMANAND
TYPE : FORTRESS
DISTRICT : NAGAR
Khedle Parmanand village in Nevasa taluka of Ahmednagar district has a fortress with the memorial of Kavindra Parmanand, author of Shivbharata Granth. As Kavindra Parmanand was born and died in Khedle village, he got the name Khedle Parmanand. Khedle Parmanand village is 50 km from Ahmednagar city and 22 km from Nevasa taluka. Khedle Parmanand fortress is located on a small hill outside the village and this hill is surrounded by Mula River on three sides. On approaching the fortress, the 20 feet high wall of the fortress built of bricks and its two bastions can be seen in front. The lower part of the fortress is made of stones and the upper part is made of stone. The fortress is in good condition except for a crack in one of the bastions and the inner construction. At the right end of the rampart is the main entrance to the fortress. This door is made of stone and above the door there are arches.

After entering through this door, we reach a large porch. A large number of ancient temple carved stones can be seen here. On the porch to the right there is Shiva temple and the bottom of it is richly carved. Ascending the steps of the fourth porch on the left, we reach the wooden auditorium of a castle. This place has arched front sides and a room with a small door to the right. Parmanand memorial is in this room and he lived in this room during his last days. On the opposite side of this memorial, i.e. on the left, there is a similar room. After exiting this hall, we reach an enclosed space. There is another memorial here and it is said to belong to Parmanand disciples. In front of this mausoleum, there is a big gate and Varavanta can be seen. A staircase has been built to go to the upper part of the palace in front of here. From the roof of the palace, the Mula river bed and a very large area can be seen. Half an hour is enough to visit the entire fortress. Next to it in front of the fortress is the mansion of Shri Bhausaheb Ranganath Giri Mokashi 126 years ago. This family owned Patilki of Khedle village. Kavindra Parmanand was a contemporary poet of Chhatrapati Shivaray. He was with Maharaj during his visit to Agra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj gave Parmanand the title of Kavindra after seeing his mastery of Sanskrit language. On the orders of the Maharaja, he wrote the epic Shiva Bharat on Shivaray in Sanskrit. It is because of this poem that we can understand some of the events of Shiva's period in a coherent manner. Khedle Parmanand is considered to be the birthplace and burial place of Kavindra Parmanand, the author of Shivbharata Granth. As Parmanand originally hails from Nevasa, his surname is Nevaskar, while Khedle village is known as 'Khedle Parmanand' after him. But some historians refute this claim because there is still a memorial of Shivbharatkar Kavindra Parmanand in Poladpur district. It is located in Raigad. According to him, the fortress and Samadhi in Khedle village belong to Parmanand Gosavi and these two are different persons. But without getting into this debate, we come here understanding this memorial of Shivbharatkar Kavindra Parmanand Nevaskar.
