After exiting the temple, we land on the beach itself. There is a 12 km long beach in front of the temple. It is a unique combination of sea on one side and rocky terrain on the other side, even in such adverse conditions the “Durva” that Bappa likes are available in abundance. Shivaji Maharaj constructed a concrete structure here and the Peshwa improved it a lot. The pandit here say that this incarnation took place to kill a demon named Lovasur. The 400-year-old Ganesha idol here is self-contained and the temple faces west. In the month of February, November, the rays of the sun fall on the idol in the evening. This temple is unique due to the natural idols of the Sahyadri Mountains and the Arabian Sea to its west. The 1 km long circuit looks very attractive with the sea, sandy beach and coconut groves. There is S.T bus facility from Ratnagiri to reach here. Many families here have facilities for one day stay and home-made food.
