DAHISAR
TYPE : FORTRESS
DISTRICT : PALGHAR
HEIGHT : 0
GRADE : EASY
To visit Dahisar Kot, take the local train of Western Railway to Safale station. Dahisar Kot is 15 km from the Safale railway station and 5 km from the Warai fork on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. As there is no information available about this kot and also the locals do not know anything, one should plan to go there with full information. On the way to Safale, after leaving the first Pargaon fork, the Tandulwadi fork, and then the Dahisar fork, you can see the Dahisar fort on the right side of the main road and the left side while coming from the Warai fork. As the kot is very small and winding, it is not visible even if there is a speeding vehicle. Since this place is secluded, it is best to use a private vehicle. The current height of the fort is 20 feet and its original height should be up to 30 feet.

There are no accommodation, water, or storage facilities inside the fort but pits dug for the lure of hidden treasures and broken stones can be seen. It is not even a battle tower from its overall structure. This kot must have been used only for the collection of revenue or for occasional interference. As there is no historical document about this fort, it is known as Dahisar Kot or Dahisar Madi by the local village. The present condition of the fort is very pitiable and trees have grown on the walls. 10 minutes is enough to see this kot. The representative of the Vasai Expedition Dr. Shridatta Raut and his colleagues are working hard to protect the past glory by clearing the bushes growing on the fort during monsoon. The Vasai Expedition is commendable for the future generations to know the architecture and prowess of Vasai province.
