ADAVAD
TYPE : FORTRESS
DISTRICT : JALGAON
Since medieval times, the city of Adavad has been of significant importance in the region of Khandesh, particularly from the era of the Faruqi dynasty. Many historical documents highlight the city's importance during that period, often referring to it as a fort or citadel. Mention of a fort in Adavad is found in some books written about 50 years ago. While exploring the Jalgaon district, we made an effort to research the fort and its remains in Adavad, but unfortunately, no substantial findings were made. Adavad is located on the Ankaleshwar-Burhanpur highway, approximately 15 km from Chopda taluka and 32 km from Jalgaon city. Over the years, the city of Adavad has expanded to such an extent that ancient structures or their remnants have been completely distroyed.

An old Persian inscription from the Faruqi era is found in a cemetery outside Adavad, providing historical evidence. Apart from this, Adavad has an ancient Shriram Temple and Gopalkrishna Temple. Additionally, there are remnants of old stone oil Ghana and ancient wells in the village, which require the assistance of locals to be identified and explored. While Adavad city itself can be explored in half a day, unfortunately, there are no significant structures or remnants similar to forts or citadels that can be visited.
